- Can I have more than one member account?
- Yes. However, you can only be signed in to ONE account at any given time.
For instance, let's say you have a "work" account and a "personal" account.
You can launch the ClientApp, and login to your "work" account, and then
all functions and transactions will apply to that work account. You can
sign out at any time, and login with your personal account, and then any
purchases or other transactions will apply to that personal account. You
can switch accounts as often as you wish. Please note that any functions
that apply to the currently logged-in account CANNOT be moved to your
other account, so if you have multiple accounts, it is your responsibility
to ensure that you are correctly logged-in to the correct account.
- Can I post multiple items at the same time?
- Yes. You can post as many items as you
wish. The posted items are unrelated to each other, other than belonging to you.
- How will I get paid when my items get sold?
- Your Sparker profile contains deposit information for the money you are
owed for the sale of your items. The amount you are owed (and other
information) is shown on your "Seller's Dashboard", and the status of when
the money from each transaction is due to arrive in your bank account.
This dashboard will initially only be accessible only on a desktop browser.
- What did I buy? How much did I spend?
- Your purchases will all appear on your "Buyer's Dashboard". All of your
"BUY" transactions, and the status of those transactions, will be shown on
that dashboard. Items purchased, date, cost, shipment, payment, delivery
status, and other fields will be shown. This dashboard will initially only
be accessible only on a desktop browser.
- How will I pay for items that I purchase?
- Your Sparker profile contains your payment information. When transactions
are completed, the money will be automatically taken from your "payment"
account. This information will be shown in your "buyer's dashboard". In the
future, you will be able to have multiple payment accounts, and you can
select which one you want to use for the current transaction.
- Can I specify more than one "payment" account?
- Yes. Eventually, you could have many payment accounts. They could even
be in different currencies, at different banks, etc. This is for the future.
For the MVP, you can only have one single payment account, but since there
is no real money in the MVP, this shouldn't be a problem.
- Can I specify the shipping details?
- Yes. You might be willing to pay more for a faster shipping arrangement.
Your default shipping arrangements will be in your Sparker profile, but
some shipments can be modified based on a number of factors, including
the size/shape/weight of the item, the source location and/or destination
location, etc. This is for the future, and not available in the MVP.
- Can I modify and unpost items?
- Yes. Your items can be modified and unposted at any time. You are
completely in charge of your own posted items. You can change the price
of any item you have posted, modify the description, or any other type
of edit. Note that if you change the price of an item that you have
posted, only the most recent price will apply.
- Will the MVP automatically post anything to my social media accounts?
- No. Initially, you will have to post any images to your social media
accounts. In the future, you will be able to have the Sparker transaction
automatically posted to your social media accounts.
- What if I want to be a buyer and a seller?
- Every Sparker member can be a buyer and a seller. If you want to sell
something, use the seller functions. If you want to buy something, use
the buyer functions. There are no restrictions.
- Will my identity and other private information be sold?
- No. We have no reason to sell your information, as we make our money
through the cost of the transactions. There is no advertising on our
website or our app, so there is no reason to sell your information to
advertisers. Your information is safe with us.
- I am a retailer, and I want to sell my items on Sparker? Can I do that?
- There are no restrictions on who you are or who you represent. If you have
items that you want to sell, post them on Sparker. This is especially
true if you have home-made items, but it works equally well if you are
a retailer who resells wholesale items. Sparker is open to all! (We
reserve the right to ban sellers, and/or items, that might be deemed
to be illegal in certain jurisdictions. For details, see our policy
elsewhere on this website.)
- How can I get the broadest exposure for my items?
- There will be a "catalog" function in the future, allowing people to
shop online for items within certain categories. Buy posting your items
to your own social media as well as our internal Sparker Catalog, you
can maximize the exposure of your items to as many people as possible.
- What makes Sparker different from Craig's List, Kijiji, etc?
- There are a number of advantages to using Sparker over other DIY sales
websites. The most important advantage is that it makes the purchase
transaction seamless, and quick. There are no shopping carts, there is
no "redirection" to another website, and there are no heavy forms that
have to be meticulously filled out. Sparker already has most of the
information that is required for your transaction, so a couple of quick
confirmation mouse-clicks and your item can be on its way from the
seller. We aim to complete most purchase transactions in
under FOUR clicks!
- Hey! I never received my items? Wrong amount taken from account? Wrong
